RELIEF FOR JAPAN'S PET POPULATION

No location was chosen

We all live in Earthquake Country and we would hope that people and organizations would help us when it's our turn for this type of disaster here in Southern California.

ALL PAW PARENTS PLEASE HELP!

THE COLLECTION WILL RUN DAILY UNTIL SUNDAY AT ALL LOCATIONS LISTED BELOW!

You do not need to speak Japanese to understand the loyalty that our PAWS have for each other and for us.  Watching this latest video which has come out of the wake of the disaster in Japan, clearly shows the Pets we are so badly trying to help.  These are family pets, tails docked and they are wearing collars.  Even in the wake of an Earthquake and Tsunami they are still alive and huddling together and showing why they are so incredibly loyal, loving, and compassionate.  You can not tell me these dogs don't have a soul or feelings.  Please watch.

We all live in Earthquake Country and we know all too well the devastating effects of the latest Earthquake and Tsunami which has struck Japan.  Japan is an Ally and Friend to the United States, and we are asking you to help with their Displaced and Now Homeless Pet Population due to this disaster.  Southern California is expected to be hit by just such an Earthquake, and we hope that people around the Country and the World would be willing to help in our time of need as we should be doing in theirs.  Please put yourself in their situation and help.  We would all want our Cherished and Loved Family Pets to be looked after in a disaster of this magnitude.

Photobucket

There are 100's of Organizations which help People, but there are few which help the pets of the people effected during these types of disasters.  We can not help but recognize that these families affected, just like our families, have cherished and loved pets.  These families were and are faced with difficult decisions of what to do with their pets, many of whom had no way to care for or evacuate and transport them.  The numbers of people tragically lost and missing in the wake of this disaster is still growing and the total numbers are unknown.

As in the United States, Japan is a tremendously Pet loving nation, and we can not hazard to guess how many pets will be effected and in need of assistance.  The closest we can estimate is what we saw in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, when 1000's of People lost their pets and the lucky pets found alive were in need of assistance in numbers unseen before.  Japan's Pet Population will be no different.

Photobucket

We are very proud to have partnered with World Vets International Aid for Animals, which is a Non-Profit Organization of Volunteer Veterinarians, Vet Techs, Student Veterinarians and Animal Rescuers trained as first responders to aid and assist in the rescue and care of the animals in the affected areas of Japan.

We are asking for your support and donations of Pet Supplies to include: Any Brand of Dry Cat and Dog Food, Small Bite Size Kibble in 10 Pound Bags or Smaller.  All Peel Open Cans of Cat and Dog Food.  All First Aid and Wound Care Items.  Collars and Leashes.

These are the businesses in our community which have recognized the need and are proud to support and help in this effort and collection of all donated items:

All Sharky's Woodfired Mexican Grill Locations in Orange County:  Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Tustin and Newport Beach

Thank You all for your help and we will be keeping the People of Japan and their pets in our prayers.

UPDATE:  ANAHEIM FEED AND PET SUPPLY WITH THE HELP OF THEIR DISTRIBUTORS ARE DONATING TWO PALLETS OF FOOD.  THAT IS SO INCREDIBLE AND WE CAN NOT THANK THEM ENOUGH FOR THEIR SUPPORT WITH ALL OUR ACTIVITIES INCLUDING THIS ONE!

We have added this video as a way for people to truly grasp and understand just how horrific this disaster is which has struck our Friends and Allys in Japan.  Sometimes we can all feel distant and not connected to things that are happening around the world, when we shouldn't.  We all are members of one race, the Human Race.  This is 6 Minutes of Horror as a Tsunami approaches, builds, and finally destroys and washes away everything in it's path.  Peoples Businesses, Homes, Cars, Trucks, Family Keep Sakes and worst of all Friends and Families of Loved Ones!   Imagine if this happened here in Huntington Beach or Newport Beach, the amount of loss we would all feel.  Please join in the efforts and help.  It truly does begin with you.

Please remember that everyone is doing their best to help. There are millions of Japanese Americans with loved ones still living in Japan and praying for their safety. Japan was struck with not 1 disaster but 2 and a potential for 3rd all within minutes. The 5th largest earthquake recorded in the last 100 Years. A Tsunami pushing more then 2 Miles inland and washing away everything in it's path, and a potential nuclear meltdown. Please remember them in your prayers and in your hearts.

We just received word this morning that Anaheim Feed and Pet Supply with the help of their distributors are donating 2 Pallets of Food for this effort. That is awesome, and thank you! When People work together there is nothing which can not be accomplished. Together we can all make a difference in the lives of the Peoples Pets in Japan, to the lives of our Own Needy Shelter Dogs through the Paw It Forward Campaign!

Latest on the happenings in Japan. Nuclear Power Plant has had a breach, and radiation is now escaping out of the containment vessel. It is now official, in three days, Japan, a country just slightly smaller then California, is having to deal with a Magnitude 9.0 Earthquake, a Tsunami reaching further inland then previously thought by Six Miles, and now a Nuclear Meltdown in a Reactor which is leaking out of it's Containment Container. Please Help Thank You!

Please share this with your friends on Facebook, your family and friends in the community. We can make a difference and it all starts with you. During Hurricane Katrina everyone was focused on the people and forgot about the people's pets, until there were dogs on roof tops everywhere. Pets literally floating on fences in flooded areas. Horses, in water up to their backs stranded and with no where to go for safety. The sooner can mobilize help and aid the better. God Bess and Thank You

Elizabeth, if you want to donate it, bring it, if we can not ship it we will make sure that a Rescue here in Orange County receives it or you can bring it to our Easter Eggstravaganza Paw Pawty as we are collecting food for Needy PAW PARENTS here in Orange County. There are more people then ever utilizing our Counties Food Banks then since the Great Depression and every bit of dog food collected at the Easter Eggstravaganza will go to feeding those PARENTS PAWS. Thank You!

Mom and I went to Milos to drop of the pet food and there was a steady stream of people bringing bags of pet food. Thank you for setting this up. It's a great idea. I told the idea at Trader Joes and he's going to spread the word.

I donated another 10 bags and over 100 lead/collars at the Aliso Viejo Sharkey's. Also wanted to let you know that I donated $100 to the charity to ship the food. Hopefully this will help. I've been really trying to spread the word at the Laguna Beach dog park to help.

Today is the last day of the donation drive. There is no 'location' for this since it is merely an announcement. The amount of food, medical and pet supplies has far exceeded our expectations. We want to sincerely THANK everyone for your generosity. With enough food and supplies, we now need a spare garage, shed or store room to temporarily store the donations. Our garages are full! :-) Do you have storage you can temporarily spare? Please call 877-215-PAWS. Blessings to all.

Patricia - About how long would you need the storage space? Would a 1 car garage be enough space?

Shipping Supplies are badly needed. Everyone is loose items, and there is a mountain of it. Volunteers will be needed in a couple of days to help in a human chain with packaging and loading. If you can help load send an email to the Leadership Team and let us know. More will come out on this tomorrow. As for now. Seriously it's 9:00 in Morning Good Night.

If you are reading this Patricia, its garage #214 in your complex. Its unlocked for you to open and use today if you need it. I will be away from restaurant for personal issues for almost all day and tomorrow morning and afternoon. Thanks. All of our stuff is on a covered table outside the patio (about 200 pounds of food, med supplies, etc

***UPDATE*** I just heard from the CEO of World Vets International in Fargo, North Dakota. We will be coordinating our project with her in an attempt to ship the supplies directly to Japan. We are all trying to get the food and medical supplies to the animals as quickly as possible but a project of this undertaking takes a lot of strategizing. Will keep you all posted! To those of you who asked about the chipin account which is being used to cover packaging and shipping expenses, here it is http://fochp.chipin.com/pets-of-japan. Any donations make through that site are tax deductible because they are being funneled through the Friends of Orange County's Homeless Pets, a 501(c)(3) organization.

I'm working with the CEO of World Vets International and we will be shipping the goods and supplies in pallets but we do need boxes that are sealable so we can seal the tops and bottoms with strapping tape. We also need pallets and shrink wrap. If anyone can help with these items, please contact us using the "Contact us" link in the left column. That goes to Stephen/Brandi and myself. I just picked up another 200 lbs of supplies from Milo's Cafe that was left over from Sunday. I'm pooped!

This was not Club, Organization, Business, Family or Person, this was simply one community of people helping another one in need. Today is 3/26/2011 and some of the photos uploading right now are can not tell the whole story. There will be an entire page dedicated to this Relief Effort and we will invite everyone to view it once completed. God Bless to Everyone for Joining Together to Help.
