DISGUSTED, WHERE WERE THE SIGNS. I LOOKED FOR AN HOUR THERE JUST LOOKING FOR THE MEETUP GROUP. TOTALLY INCONSIDERATE OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT LIVE IN THE AREA. WASTE OF PRECIOUS TIME AND GAS!
Not just another walk in the park. Having Joel Robinson as our guide was an invaluable experience. Without him there to point out the poison oak, I'm sure that our two dogs (and maybe even we) would have tromped right through it. Joel made us aware of the variety of edibles on which one could survive, and the abundant wildlife which exists (and once existed) in the Santa Ana Mountain Range. It's just a shame that we had yield so often to idiots who "appreciate" nature from inside their four wheel drives. Thanks Joel! We had a great time last Friday evening.
People were very nice, and Joel was both informative and enthusiastic. I was a bit bummed that most people who signed up didn't show, and I might have started this a bit earlier to maximize sundown...it was a bit dark at the end.
We were somewhat disappointed. Wiener hunt was only for smaller dogs....Booths were more for human beings than for pets. Raffle tickets were kinda expensive @ $5/ticket (inconsiderate for people that had limited funds)
It was a great afternoon. Food was fantastic. All Parents and Paws were super friendly. Thanks to DI2C Dogs in Southern California and Kirby McNabb for coming out and showing us a great high flying act. Thanks to everyone for Pawing It Forward too!
pepople did not seem very friendly and no one said hello to my dog except for some of the dogs, at which point, most people pulled their dogs away from mine when they attempted to greet. I attempted to sit at a table with another small dog and i was told that i had to go to restaurant to be seated. Lady did not seem to enjoy it either. She got car sick after the llong ride home.
My son and I and Brittney (American Bulldog) we had a nice time. We were very lucky to find a parking place, we were there 1 hour early and it was extremely crowded, the large parking lots were full by the Balboa Pier. After we parked we waited by the ferris wheel for at least 1/2 hour or more with a few other club members. No show of the organizers, so a few of us went accross the ferry and found a nice place near the ferry to watch the boat parade. Didn't wait for the fire works, did not go see any decorated homes on the island. Basically the whole event fell apart and people went either their separate ways or went with a few others here and there as far as we could tell. Nothing that was "planned for weeks ahead of time" turned out. Perhaps it was just too many people and no parking places. I feel that there were probably a lot of very disappointed people who wanted to do this but were unable to because of the parking problems. Perhaps an earlier date would be better next year.
disappointed in turn out, we got there early like we were told and most of the sign up were a now show, next time we need phone number to call the organizers to find out if it was cancelled if they are no shows
Drove around and around and could not find PARKING ! We went on auto ferry across and somehow landed on a dead end street where we got to see the last 7 mins of the boat parade !! Later, we crossed and barely saw the grand finale of the fireworks!! Brought my mom and daughter. We drove from Rancho Cucamonga as I had to pick up my daughter from her job.......
It seems like a lot of people weren't able to make it due to traffic. I had to park pretty far from the Fun Zone and walk, but it was totally worth it - Philip and I had a great time hanging out watching the boats, and chatting with the people we did find :)
Worthy cause, dogs & dog people, Santa photos... Great!! And cupcakes for $1 donation. If it were possible to add one of those fun food trucks and casual seating area, it would be perfect.
It was a great event! I met several people from the Irvine Animal Shelter however I was trying to meet members of PAWS. I did not realize as a brand new member this was not a exclusive PAWS event. Therefore I did not actually meet anyone from PAWS.
We want to everyone who came out and participated. It was a wonderful day, with lots of Paws in Costume. Old World was great with allowing the dogs inside and we couldn't have held this event without their help. Thanks to the Sponsors for donating great prizes for the winner of the Costume Contest which was a Chia Pet, so cute! It was really a great day, and best of all, with this event and previous events the Paw It Forward Campaign's December Pawliday Dog Adoption Event being held at O.C. Animal Care has been funded. So Thank You Everyone for Pawing It Forward and coming out to this Howling Halloween Pawty!
Had a blast. Lots of adorable pups and very nice people. Weather was perfect as well. The Terry's did an awesome job putting this all together. Hope lots of $$ was raised. Riley, the Big Kahuna, had a good time and looks forward to re-match for next year.

THE DESPERATE PAWS OF ORANGE COUNTY DOG CLUB'S "PAW IT FORWARD" CAMPAIGN benefits Local Needy and Adoptable Dogs by funding Special Adoption Events in our community. This Club is so much more than just a place to have a great time with our PAWS but also through the Club's joint efforts with Local Businesses, Agencies, Dog Welfare Groups and County Officials we have been able to positively affect the lives of many more deserving PAWS who are not as fortunate to have wonderful PARENTS like our PAWS do.
DESPERATE PAWS OF ORANGE COUNTY DOG CLUB, its Efforts, Activities and Programs have been recognized by the following. Here is what they had to say:
"O.C. Animal Care has benefited greatly from our relationship with Desperate Paws of O.C. Dog Club and we are looking forward to the B.A.R.K 4 Kids program. As Orange County’s largest animal shelter, we see firsthand the lack of education in our community through the number of animals that come to our shelter lacking identification, proper care, and proper behavioral training. Through programs like this, and the wonderful volunteers in our community like Desperate Paws of O.C. Dog Club, we hope to further our cause of educating our younger community in responsible pet ownership and a higher respect for the animals we work so hard to protect." - Ryan Drabek, Director of O.C. Animal Care
THE NEEDY PAWS APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL DONATIONS!
We ask that you please read the D.P.O.C. DOG CLUB'S FAQs to answer any potential questions that you may have about the club. Thank You!
***In keeping with our Mission Statement, and Singleness of Purpose, there are times when Brandi and I feel that some people will join the Club to promote other activities or business ventures not in-line with the Club's Purpose. Therefore we feel it is essential to keep the Club's Mission Clear which is to promote Quality Time for bonding between PARENTS and their PAWS in fun social activities, while giving back to our Local Needy PAW Community. If you are joining for any other reason, please be advised you are joining the wrong Club....
