Hi PARENTS,
We wish to welcome all the New PARENTS and PAWS who have joined the Club since the Lazy Dog Cafe-Manic Monday Event on June 28th. It is wonderful to see the Club Growing, and we hope that everyone will come out bring their "PAWS" and PAWTY with us. The "PAW IT FORWARD" CAMPAIGN is truly making a significant difference in helping Needy and Adoptable Dogs, which are in High-Kill Shelters, find New Forever Homes here in Our Community and keep them from being Euthanized.
Currently, there are two Outings coming up this Month, Lazy Dog Cafe Manic Monday Paw Pawty, which is July 26th, beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Lazy Dog Cafe, in Irvine. We have been reassured that this time the seating will be better and we hope that everyone will come out and join us for Dinner with their PAWS! The raffle Prizes for this Outing were donated by the "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim", "Lazy Dog Cafe", and "Papa Murphy's Pizza". We wish to thank them for their wonderful Generosity in helping the club to "PAW IT FORWARD".
On July 28th, is the next Wags-N-Waves Outing to the Locals' Newport Dog Beach. Here is exact directions as some PARENTS are still finding it difficult to find the location of this Beach as it is not an official dog beach, and locals really only know about it. Coming from the South, head North on P.C.H. towards Huntington Beach, just before you go over the bridge for the Santa Ana River, is a signal light. The street is called Orange. Turn Left. Immediately, at the yield sign after turning, make a right onto Seashore Drive. Follow Seashore Drive all the way until it dead ends at the river Jetties, and park. If you are coming from the North, then go over the Bridge and make a right onto Orange Street and then follow the directions above. Parking is free on the Street, or you can park in the Parking Lot, which is metered. Walk down the sidewalk along the River onto the Sand and take that all the way to where the River Joins the Pacific Ocean. We get there at 6:00 P.M. and usually stay until about 7:45 P.M. It is a great place to take the PAWS and beat the Summer Heat. Last Wednesday there were over 75 dogs on the Beach there, and all had a great time.
On a side note to the Idea Posted about Changing the Location of the Outing to Huntington Dog Beach, Brandi and I work very hard with local cities, including Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Irvine, and Ladera Ranch. Currently, until the City of Huntington Beach changes its practices of Charging Groups to have events at their Public Parks and Beaches, there will be no Outings in the City there. The cost of having another Beach Blanket Bingo PAW PAWTY like the ones we had earlier this year are too expensive for the Club to fund. The City of Huntington Beach, Life Guard Division, is in charge of all City Beaches, and their fees to have an Event on the Beach do not make it feasible for a FREE-NOT-FOR PROFIT CLUB like ours to pay. We would have to pay for added Life Guards, Parking, Application Fees, and more.
In Fact, we attempted to have a "BEACH BLANKET BINGO PAW PAWTY END OF SUMMER EVENT", there on the Huntington Dog Beach, and we were greeted with an application from the City, which would require an Artist Rendition and drawing of the Event, Costs for Extra Police Presence, Additional Life Guards, Additional Parking, Application Fees, Processing Fees, Fire Permit Fees, you name it we had to pay it. All we were attempting to do was have a Dog-Event on the Beach invite all the Dog Clubs and Groups in Orange County, plus the Local Dog Rescues, to get added exposure to the Dogs who were available for Adoption, and also provide a fun time to the PARENTS and PAWS in attendance. Unfortunately unless a miracle happens this event is not going to happen.
In August, we are pleased to Announce that the Club is going to be Included in the Costa Mesa Bark Park Foundations annual Bathestille Day Event. This Event is a fundraiser for the Bark Park, and also for the "PAW IT FORWARD" CAMPAIGN. There will be terrific Raffle Prizes there, an Ice Cream Truck which not only sells Human Ice Cream, but K-9 Ice Cream too. The Ice Cream Truck is part of our Fundraising Efforts and also one of our Newest Sponsors, and they will be donating .50 from the Sale of Every Ice Cream to the "PAW IT FORWARD" CAMPAIGN, and the Bark Park Foundation. At this event there will be tons of play time for the PAWS, and also some Rescues, Pet Vendors, and you can even get your PAW a bath, and help to Support the Bark Park with Maintenance and Upkeep. Currently the City of Costa Mesa is now Charging the Bark Park Foundation for all the Lighting Needs there in the Park at night. This Park is one of the few here in Orange County which is open after Dark. This Event Begins at 9:00 A.M. and will last until 3:00 P.M. but you can come and PAWTY anytime between those hours. Be sure and stop by the Club's Booth, and say Hi. We hope all the PARENTS and the PAWS will be able to make it.
Lastly PARENTS, The Club will be holding "Steering and Planning Committee" Meetings, once a Month Beginning in September. These Meetings are open to all Members who wish to attend and would like to Participate. At these Meetings we will be discussing the Direction of the Club, Planning Future Outings including End of Year PAWTY (when the money will be donated to the Two Local Rescues), Potential New Sponsors, as well as any other official Club Business. The Club is growing everyday, and we need help to continue the growth and management of the Club. Currently there have been Three New Designated Leadership Roles created including Special Events Host and Greeter, Patricia M., Chief Recruiter and Greeter, Stan M., and Foster Parent and Dog Rescue Advisor, Andrea H.. We invite everyone who wishes to take part to do so by attending the Monthly Meetings.
Again, Brandi and I wish to thank all the PARENTS and PAWS who are taking part in the Club and we invite everyone to come out and join us at the Outings. They are fun, the PAWS love to PAWTY and it also helps the Needy Dog Population here in Our Community. Here is a link to the latest of the L.A. Times Articles which is now the third article about the Club and the "PAW IT FORWARD" CAMPAIGN.
