EMPOWERING KIDS and SAVING DOGS ONE BARK at a TIME!
B.A.R.K. 4 KIDS, is a new pilot program beginning in 2011 which is working in our Pre-Schools and Elementary Schools to help Kids Be Aware Responsible and Knowledgeable about proper dog safety and awareness, plus also how dogs benefit the community as a whole.
Each year there are 1,000's of children bitten and attacked by dogs, many of those are even from their own family pet. Our mission is to educate children so they properly know how to approach and care for a dog, as well as how to be responsible dog owners in the future.
Nothing is more disturbing than to see a child scared for life from their family dog, all because they were uneducated about how to properly show love to their family dog, or how to properly greet, show love and affection for an unfamiliar dog.
Most often, as we have witnessed in the past when dogs attack they are trying to defend themselves and are trapped without the ability to escape. This happens in such cases as when a child jumps on a dog, or grabs it by the tail or ears, or perhaps they might even stick a finger in their eye, and the dog defends itself which often times the dog will bite or mouth the child.
The end result of these bites and attacks are the children are physically and emotionally scarred and often times the dogs are unfairly judged and euthanized. We hope this program will make a significant difference in the number of children which are bitten because they are not educated and unknowingly provoke a dog to bite in a "Fight or Flight" reaction when they are trapped by a child and can't flee. Even the most submissive dogs can and will bite in certain circumstances and their bite can and does create serious injury to people and especially to young children who are just the right height for a dog to fatally injure.
B.A.R.K. 4 KIDS will be utilizing Law Enforcement K-9 Units, Volunteer K-9 Rescue Organizations, Therapy Dogs, and other Service Dogs to help in this education and to show the wonderful roles that canines play in our daily lives.

This Club is so much more than just a place to have a great time with our PAWS but also through the Club's joint efforts with Local Businesses, Agencies, Dog Welfare Groups and County Officials we have been able to positively affect the lives of many more deserving PAWS who are not as fortunate to have wonderful PARENTS like our PAWS do.
DESPERATE PAWS OF ORANGE COUNTY DOG CLUB, its Efforts, Activities and Programs have been recognized by the following. Here is what they had to say:
"O.C. Animal Care has benefited greatly from our relationship with Desperate Paws of O.C. Dog Club and we are looking forward to the B.A.R.K 4 Kids program. As Orange County’s largest animal shelter, we see firsthand the lack of education in our community through the number of animals that come to our shelter lacking identification, proper care, and proper behavioral training. Through programs like this, and the wonderful volunteers in our community like Desperate Paws of O.C. Dog Club, we hope to further our cause of educating our younger community in responsible pet ownership and a higher respect for the animals we work so hard to protect." - Ryan Drabek, Director of O.C. Animal Care
THE NEEDY PAWS APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL DONATIONS!
We ask that you please read the D.P.O.C. DOG CLUB'S FAQs to answer any potential questions that you may have about the club. Thank You!
***In keeping with our Mission Statement, and Singleness of Purpose, there are times when Brandi and I feel that some people will join the Club to promote other activities or business ventures not in-line with the Club's Purpose. Therefore we feel it is essential to keep the Club's Mission Clear which is to promote Quality Time for bonding between PARENTS and their PAWS in fun social activities, while giving back to our Local Needy PAW Community. If you are joining for any other reason, please be advised you are joining the wrong Club....
